Zeppelin Power Systems again scores top marks in the Caterpillar Marine Service Assessment

01.06.2016

For the second time in succession, MaK Service at the Zeppelin Power Systems Hamburg and Achim sites was awarded the Platinum Certificate for outstanding services. This requires a significantly above-average score in all areas.

Platinum Certificate for Excellent Customer Service

“The award by DNV GL is a major recognition of the work done by the entire team,” says Udo Bengard, service manager for MaK engines in Achim. In his role as project manager, Bengard is responsible for the preparations and audit by the certification body Det Norske Veritas/Germanischer Lloyd (DNV GL). “The result shows that our organization and processes are optimized for maximum customer benefit.”

On behalf of the manufacturer Caterpillar, DNV GL audited all processes relevant to service, such as proposal writing and order processing, documentation, repair, spare part processes, customer support, availability and dispatch of personnel and spare parts, qualification and training, complaints and the supply chain.

The assessment of the new training center in Achim was particularly positive, together with the newly developed training concept, the competence management system, and the resulting development opportunities for employees. The two workshops received praise, in particular with respect to contamination control, ergonomics and state-of-the-art equipment. According to the certification system introduced by Caterpillar for the international dealer network, there is a total of ten MaK engine dealers worldwide which have Platinum Certification.

Zeppelin Power Systems provides every customer with exclusive service and engine configurations individually tailored to their specific requirements. It’s not just drive engines or auxiliary engines that they supply: Each engine is also specially equipped according to customer requirements. The engines are converted by qualified staff in the state-of-the-art workshops in Hamburg and Achim.
